This allows us to look at the patient and become familiar with the type of problem(s) that exist. Very often the determination can be made on treatment; when it should be started, possible duration of treatment, and estimation of the cost.
Should the determination be made that more information is needed, an additional appointment may be set up. At that visit, important information used to determine the need for treatment and/or what treatment will be necessary can be obtained. These include facial and intra-oral photographs, plaster study models of teeth, and panoramic, cephalometric, and anterior-posterior x-rays.
This visit is the companion visit to the Diagnostic Records visit. Dr. Belden will explain the nature of the problem and offer potential treatments should it be determined necessary. Should the patient not be ready for any treatment at that time, a recall appointment may be set up.
Patients who were not ready for any type of treatment will be periodically called back for observation. These visits are generally scheduled on three, six, nine, or twelve month intervals.
When a patient is in active treatment, visits are scheduled most often at three to six week intervals, depending on the nature of the treatment that is taking place.
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have payment plans to suit different budgets, including a no-down-payment option. We also accept assignment from most insurance plans, and file the necessary papers to the insurance company. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
- We offer "hassle-free" automatic on-line payments through your checking account.
- No-interest payment plans are available or extended payment plans up to 48 months at reasonable interest rates through Care Credit. Apply online at their secure website, www.carecredit.com or call (800)365-8295.
- If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a fee discount. (If you have insurance, we will offer a discount for payment of your portion of the fee that will not be covered by insurance.)
- For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA and MASTERCARD.
- In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.
If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We ask that you assign your insurance benefit to us. The balance will be arranged for you to pay (see above). Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will help in every way we can in filing your claims and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
